Romney, Paul close in Iowa race: poll

(Reuters) - Mitt Romney binds a slight lead in Iowa in a competition for the Republican presidential nomination, according to a check expelled on Friday that also showed poignant regard on either his closest rival, Ron Paul, would be an excusable nominee.

According to a NBC/Marist poll, 23 percent of expected participants in Tuesday's Iowa caucuses pronounced they would support Romney, a former Massachusetts governor, and 21 percent corroborated Texas Congressman Paul.
