Montreal police arrest five in mafia boss murder

Montreal military on Tuesday arrested 5 suspects in a murdering of New York mobster Salvatore Montagna, and related a sixth person already in prison to a crime.

The indicted face charges of murder and conspiracy to dedicate murder, military orator Ricardo Bergeron told a press discussion after a fibre of early morning raids.

Raynald Desjardins, 59, an associate of Montreal's conjectural Mafia enclose Vito Rizzuto, was among those arrested.

Vittorio Mirarchi, 34, Felice Racaniello, 27, and dual other suspects were also arrested.

A sixth person, Jack Simpson, 69, who was once condemned to 28 years in jail for drug trafficking in a United States, was already in jail on a release violation.

"It's a tough blow opposite Italian orderly crime," Bergeron said.

Montagna's physique was fished out of a Assomption River on Nov 24 nearby Simpson's home in Charlemagne, northeast of Montreal, that a plant had visited on a day he was shot.

Montagna was innate in Canada in 1971 and lifted in Sicily, and allegedly rose fast in a New York's Bonanno crime family, apropos a halt personality in 2006. He was deported from a United States to Canada in 2009.

Local mafia groups in Montreal had been in misunderstanding given a fall of a once-powerful Sicilian Rizzuto clan.

The group's arch Nicolo Rizzuto was killed final year, and his son Vito is now in jail in a United States. Rizutto's grandson was killed in 2009.
